Hillside Fisheries, in Ackworth, will give a free fish and chips to all customers who visit the chippy on Saturday, August 1 wearing a flat cap and accompanied by their pet whippet.
And those who don't own a pet whippet can still benefit from a 10 per cent discount if they wear a flat cap to collect their order.

Hide AdOwner Charlie Tipton said: "The village of Ackworth was affected by the pandemic, and as a close-knit community, it was really unnerving for us to witness.
“We wanted to do something that would raise our customers’ spirits and Yorkshire Day seemed like the perfect opportunity given that customers know us to be fun, outgoing Yorkshire people.
“The whippet and flat cap look is a really old stereotype, but we thought it would lift residents’ spirits to see customers in the village sporting that look.”
The chippy, on Barnsley Road, opened in the 1960s, but was badly damaged by a fire in 2014. It reopened in 2017, and is now affectionately known as Charlie's Chippy by locals.

Hide AdCharlie hopes that the promotion will help to bring a smile to his customers' faces after more than four months of disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: "We cook our fish and chips in the traditional way using the finest ingredients available to us.
“We still cook in exactly the same way as in the 60’s; using beef dripping and that means our customers come back to us time and time again because they know taste and quality is consistent.”
Those wishing to take advantage of the offer on Yorkshire Day are asked to queue outside two metres apart before ordering at the door and entering one at a time to pay once the order is ready.
