Radio host has an eye for images
The former Radio Leeds host, who interviewed the likes of Sir David Frost and the Duchess of York, is also a natural behind the camera.
He is a member of Normanton Camera Club and his picture of an osprey catching a fish, top right, was seen by an estimated 30,000 people as part of a touring Royal Photographic Society members’ exhibition.

John, of Rothwell, said: “I have always had at least a passing interest in photography. I was a member of Wakefield Camera Club for a lengthy period of time, I then moved to Normanton CC three years ago about the time I decided to try and specialise in wildlife pictures.
“This was shortly after I won the Rotherham Trophy in the annual Yorkshire Photographic Union competition with a Rugby League picture from my local club Oulton Raiders.”
His advice for would-be wildlife photographers is simple: “Research your subject, be patient and even then be prepared to fail. You do not get a coconut with every ball.”
