Washout summer weather forced events to be abandoned at the annual Emley Show on Saturday.

Thousands packed on to the show ground beneath the mast as the day got off to a bright start.

In the main ring, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue’s marching band, Wise Owls bird display and Stannage International Stunt Team and a vintage tractor parade entertained crowds. And elsewhere on the field there were animal exhibits, trade and craft stalls, and hundreds of classes and competitions including dry stone walling and floral art.

But rain came down throughout the afternoon forcing the second Wise Owls show and the children’s games and races to be cancelled.
