Hide AdMr Brown, 31, a digger driver, said: “It’s absolutely brilliant. I’m over the moon to have won after coming second for the past two years.
“I’ve trained really hard for it and I knew I was near enough the strongest I’ve ever been. Being on home turf helped as well, looking up knowing that there were people there cheering you on.
“Tom Shaw was probably the favourite going into it but in the end I beat him by a point. I didn’t win an event outright but being consistently in the top three gave me the points to win.
“My little lad took the trophy into school on Monday, there’s a bit of my dad’s bigger than your dad but it’s all good fun.”
