Man rescued from blazing Pontefract flat by passer-by
A man was rescued from the balcony of his burning Pontefract flat by a member of the public.
Fire crews from Pontefract, Castleford, Featherstone and Normanton were called to the blaze at Horsefair Flats in Pontefract at around 11.20am this morning (Thursday).
A fire service spokesman said the man was rescued from the first floor flat by a member of the public who borrowed a set of ladders from nearby workmen.
The man was taken to hospital by paramedics with superficial burns to his hands, arm and head.
